Although there are many types of innovation, basically four types of innovation come to the fore. The main types of innovation are; product innovation, service innovation, process innovation and marketing innovation.

Developing a new product or making it available on the market by making changes is called product innovation. An example of product innovation is that mobile phones shrink over time and are equipped with touch screens.

Service innovation is called to take a new service approach or to present and change the existing service significantly. An example of service innovation is ordering food online, bringing grocery shopping to the door, and broadcasting busses.

The development of different methods in the production or distribution of a product or improvement of existing methods is called process innovation. The design systems that involve the customers of the automobile manufacturers in the design process, full-time production, the use of serial production bands are examples of process innovation.

Renewal of a product or packaging with different designs, using different marketing approaches or developing existing approaches are called marketing innovation. Examples of marketing innovation are the handles on the buses printed in the form of wristwatches, the gold is packaged in different grams and presented to the market in the form of cards, and the design of a bed model for children as a race car.

Companies can apply one or more types of innovations by customizing in their field in order to remain competitive in today’s market conditions.
