German Design Award 2020

Every year, the German Design Award honors innovative products and projects, their manufacturers and designers, who are pioneers in the German and international design landscape. They are awarded by an international jury. This year the award ceremony took place on February 7, 2020 in the context of Ambiente fair in Frankfurt am Main.

Every year, the German Design Award honors innovative products and projects, their manufacturers and designers, who are pioneers in the German and international design landscape. They are awarded by an international jury.

This year the award ceremony took place on February 7, 2020 in the context of Ambiente fair in Frankfurt am Main. The award cathegories are; excellent architecture, excellent communication desgn, excellent product design.

Lets have a look to some of the winners in  the excellent product design cathegory.

Polesano, Delta Light

The smart LED pole is designed by Dean Skira for Deltalight.

The design of the pole is minimalist,very modern, clear and linear.

With its swivelled lampheads, is possible to create different lighiting scenarios specially for urban settings.

The aim of this pole is to reply all the requests of urban lighting designer with its flexiblility and modularity.

Drop by Drop, iGuzzini

The beautiful teardrop shaped supended lamp is designed by Alfonse Femia. The lamp can be used alone or in a group.There are to versions,chrome for accent lighting and opal for general lighting, both with Opti Beam reflectors, LED technology and DALI to provide a comfortable and efficient lihting.

Over-all Surface Mounted Uplight, Simes

With its flat and compact design, Over-all is an innovative on ground up lighter for multiple applications.

Over-all has a thin body with no visible screws, and a special nylon fixing plate, isolating it from the ground which makes the installation and maintenance easier without using any recessing box or soakaway.

Centura, Radiant Architectural Lighting

Centura, is a flexible linear LED lighting system based in a basic unit.

The design allows to make curves, encircle coloums and domes.

The system can be used also as irregularly shaped pendants.

Uplight and downlight, pendant or surface mounted solutions are avaible.

Favo – The Light Net, Sattler GmbH

Favo is a modular lighting system based on a single hexagonal modul.

With its plug connection, it’s very quick and secure to assembly the components and to create free forms.

Light source of Favo is 5 watts and 515 lumen LED. Different beam angles are avaiable.And also, Favo is contrallable and dimmable with DALI, CASAMBI, DMX and 0-10V or 1-10V.

After Notre Dame de Sion French High School, Ayşe Dilay Özkiper continued her education at the Istanbul Technical University and has been graduated as an Architect. She also graduated from her MBA at the Istanbul University Institute of Business Economics. She attended various workshops, formations, and schoolings on lighting design and technique. Özkiper spent the last 20 years of her 29-year professional career in the lighting sector with the expertise of architectural lighting and still continues as a lighting designer and consultant.
