OLED

In the past, perhaps few would have predicted that LEDs in watch displays would be the lighting technology of the future. But it has happened and LEDs are now being used for general lighting purposes. Could OLEDs or laser diodes replace LED technology? And what about light-emitting plants?

Biomimicry (emulating designs and ideas found in nature), which is a design approach used by many companies today, really works. According to the research result published in the journal Nano Letters, Korean scientists have significantly improved OLED performance by imitating the nanostructures of fireflies.

OLED (Organic LED) is solid state lighting (SSL) technology like LED. OLED is made of carbon-based thin organic layers that are compressed between two electrodes. LEDs are made of different types of heavy metals (arsenic, gallium, indium).
