Electric Field

The unused power caused by the inductive and capacitive effects of transmission lines or electrical loads using alternating current is called reactive power. Reactive power, also known as virtual power or phantom power, is measured by VAR (Volt-ampere reactive).

Energy or particles emitted from a source and moving in the air are called radiation. Radio waves, microwaves, X-rays and gamma rays are types of electromagnetic radiation. Visible light is also a kind of electromagnetic radiation. However, this constitutes only a small part of the electromagnetic spectrum.
